Špindlerův Mlýn ski resort guide: the five ski areas, slopes, lifts and what is new for 2026/27

The Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn resort in the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains) is made up of five areas: Svatý Petr, Medvědín, Hromovka, Horní Mísečky and Labská. The resort has so far quoted about 27 km of groomed slopes, and the piste map for winter 2026/27 shows an altitude range of 702 to 1,235 metres. A ski pass is valid on all of the resort's lifts, so you can switch between areas during the day. Where no slope links them yet, free ski buses carried skiers in previous winters. We gathered this information in September 2026 from the resort's website and press releases, its 2026/27 piste map and Czech News Agency (ČTK) reports.

New for winter 2026/27: the Přehradní chairlift and a first link

The resort will open the 2026/27 season on 12 December 2026 with the Špindl SkiOpening, and the new Audi Line Přehradní lift is due to carry its first skiers that day. It is a heated six-seater chairlift with a protective bubble. It runs from the new P1 terminal by the Labská reservoir, on the site of the former P1 car park, to the top station of Hromovka. The line is 1,400 metres long, carries up to 2,000 people an hour, and the ride takes about four minutes. Alongside it runs the new red Přehradní slope, 1,750 metres long on the piste map, with snowmaking along its whole length.

The lift brings the first link between the two sides of the valley, for now in one direction only. From Medvědín you ski down the new Lesní slope, over a bridge across the road from Vrchlabí, to the P1 terminal, ride the Přehradní chairlift up to Hromovka and carry on along the slopes to Svatý Petr, with no car or ski bus needed. The other way round, from Svatý Petr to Medvědín, is not yet possible on skis.

From April 2027, a ten-seater gondola is due to be built from the P1 terminal towards Medvědín. It will not go all the way to the summit, which, according to the resort, nature protection rules did not allow. The two-way link is planned for winter 2027/28, and the resort should then have almost 40 km of slopes, according to ČTK. Construction dates in the mountains can slip, as the resort itself points out.

Svatý Petr: from a wide blue run to the World Cup slope

At Svatý Petr, the heated six-seater innogy line chairlift takes you up to Pláň at 1,198 metres, along with other chairlifts and drag lifts. For beginners, the resort recommends the wide and long blue run, shown on the piste map as Turistická and 2,700 metres long. For experienced skiers there are red runs and the black FIS World Cup slope, built to international racing standards. In January 2026, Špindlerův Mlýn hosted the Alpine Ski World Cup.

At the top of the red Hřiště run is the timed Audi Race Track, 300 metres long with about 90 metres of vertical drop, where you can compare your time with that of Czech ski racer Ondřej Bank. Groomed cross-country trails lead from Pláň, for example towards Strážné or to the Klínové boudy chalets. You can eat and warm up at both the top and bottom stations.

Hromovka: red runs and night skiing

Hromovka is close to the central P2 car park and, according to the resort, is mainly for more advanced skiers. A four-seater chairlift takes you to two red runs, Hromovka I and Hromovka II, each about 1.5 km long on the piste map. At the top there is a fun track with waves, bumps and boxes, and the lift and slopes connect Hromovka with Svatý Petr. Hromovka is also where you can ski in the evening on a floodlit slope. From winter 2026/27, the new Přehradní chairlift ends at its top station.

Medvědín: the highest summit of the resort

At 1,235 metres, Medvědín is the highest point of the resort. Two four-seater chairlifts go up, one from Špindlerův Mlýn near car park P3 and one from Horní Mísečky, with a drag lift in the upper section. There is a blue run, two red runs and a black run, and according to the resort one of the reds is 60 metres wide. The restaurant at the top station has a large terrace with views across the Krkonoše as far as Sněžka.

Horní Mísečky: children, beginners, snowpark and cross-country

The resort recommends Horní Mísečky above all for families with children. The wide, gentle slope suits children and beginner skiers and snowboarders; three drag lifts run at the bottom, and a four-seater chairlift goes up to Medvědín. There is a fun track at the top and a separate snowpark with its own drag lift on a sunny slope, with features for all levels. Horní Mísečky is also a cross-country hub: most trails start at the Stopa chalet, and there are race loops of 1, 2, 5 and 10 km. The information centre here has closed; ski passes are sold from a self-service machine.

Labská: smaller and quieter by the reservoir

Labská is right at the entrance to Špindlerův Mlýn, by the Labská reservoir. A three-seater chairlift takes you to the red Labská run, 1,770 metres long on the piste map: the upper part runs through the forest and feels sportier, the lower part crosses sunny slopes. The resort recommends it for families with children, and from the top station you can join cross-country trails towards Horní Mísečky or Benecko.

Which area suits you?

• First turns or small children: Horní Mísečky, or the wide blue run at Svatý Petr.
• A quieter day with the family: Labská or Horní Mísečky.
• Confident skiers who like speed: the red and black runs on Medvědín, at Svatý Petr and on Hromovka.
• Freestyle: the snowpark at Horní Mísečky and the fun tracks on Hromovka and at Horní Mísečky.
• Night skiing: Hromovka.
• Cross-country: Horní Mísečky, Pláň and the trails from the top of Labská.

There is a ski school right in the resort. We do not offer lessons, but we are happy to help with equipment.

Pick up your equipment on the way in Vrchlabí

Our family-run ski rental is in Vrchlabí, on the main road to Špindlerův Mlýn, 16.1 km and about 18 minutes' drive from the resort, with parking right outside. We rent ski sets for children and adults, snowboards and cross-country skis. We choose the ski length according to your height, weight and experience and adjust the bindings to your weight. Book online at least a day ahead and your equipment will be ready; without a booking, we choose from what is available.
