Night skiing in the Krkonoše: floodlit slopes in Špindlerův Mlýn and around Vrchlabí

Many ski areas in the Krkonoše offer night skiing, but not every day. Operating days and times vary with the season, the snow and the weather, and in September 2026 most areas had not yet published them for winter 2026/27. So we describe how it worked in recent winters and where the information comes from. We deliberately leave out opening times; you will find them on the ski areas' websites.

Špindlerův Mlýn: floodlit Hromovka

In Špindlerův Mlýn, evening skiing takes place on the floodlit Hromovka slope near car park P2. A four-seater chairlift takes you up, there is an après-ski bar and the resort's rental shop at the bottom, and according to the resort the fun track is open in the evening too. In winter 2025/26, night skiing on Hromovka ran every day until 7 March 2026, and after that only on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March.

You need a separate ski pass for the evening. The resort sold it online at gopass.travel and at the Hromovka information centre, which was open in the evening. According to Gopass, night skiing in Špindlerův Mlýn is included in the 2026/27 SKI season passes. The piste map for winter 2026/27 shows the night skiing symbol on the Hromovka I run and also on the Malý hank run at Svatý Petr and the Vodovodní cesta run at Medvědín. The resort will publish on its website which runs will be open in the evening in winter 2026/27, and on which days.

Around Vrchlabí: Strážné, Herlíkovice and Benecko

Closer to Vrchlabí there are smaller ski areas that also offered evening skiing in recent winters. We calculated the driving distances from our rental shop with the public OSRM route planner.

• Strážné, about 9 km: according to the municipality's website, half of the slopes have snowmaking and floodlights, and evening skiing ran on Wednesdays and Fridays. Parking is at two paid car parks.
• Herlíkovice, about 5 km: night skiing is on the floodlit run no. 4, Pětistovka, served by lift C. The ski area publishes the operating days on its website.
• Benecko, about 13 km: according to the ski area's website, the HSK drag lift and the Kejnos chairlift run every evening in season. Operation may be reduced towards the end of the season, so check before you go.

Other ski areas in the Krkonoše

The Krkonoše tourist portal, krkonose.eu, published an overview of night skiing in other areas too in February 2025. According to it, evening skiing was available, for example:

• on Černá hora in Janské Lázně, on the Protěž run, every day,
• in Pec pod Sněžkou on the Javor run every evening, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays also on the U lesa run or the Modřín run in Velká Úpa,
• in Mladé Buky from Wednesday to Sunday,
• at Skifamily in Dolní Dvůr every day,
• in Vítkovice at the Aldrov area on Fridays and Saturdays, and at Janova hora on Wednesdays,
• in Harrachov on the Doplik lift.

The portal itself points out that operation can change with slope conditions and snow depth. Check the website of the specific ski area before you buy a pass.

Cross-country after dark: Vejsplachy in Vrchlabí

Cross-country skiers have a floodlit trail right in Vrchlabí, at the Vejsplachy ski area by the Kačák pond. The area is run by the town of Vrchlabí through the TJ SVS Krkonoše club. The trails total about 7 km, and the green-marked trail has artificial snow and floodlights, so you can ski there after dark. In winter 2025/26, the artificial-snow season began at the end of December and ended on 21 March 2026. The connecting natural-snow trails, for example to Kněžice or Valteřice, are groomed only when there is enough snow, and only the green trail is lit.

From the area's rules:

• The trails are two-way; keep to the right and follow the marked direction.
• Do not walk on groomed trails without skis, and do not bring dogs onto them.
• During races, grooming and snowmaking, access is restricted or forbidden.
• Park only in the designated spaces at the area.

In season there is usually a cash desk at the car park, where you can buy a parking card or a trail badge that helps pay for grooming. The operator posts the current trail conditions on nabezky.cz.

What to keep in mind on an evening slope

• It is usually colder in the evening than during the day, so take an extra layer and warm gloves.
• Dark sun lenses do not suit floodlights; goggles with a lighter lens work better.
• Stay off the slopes outside operating hours, when snow groomers are working. In Strážné, the operator explicitly warns of a risk of fatal injury.
• An evening pass is often separate, so check what yours includes.
