Here is the whole process, from booking to pick-up, adjustment and return, plus season-long rental and servicing for your own skis. SKI Rental Jiří Honců is a family-run ski rental and ski service in Vrchlabí, in the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). It is run by Mgr. Jiří Honců, who spent several seasons as a ski instructor at an Alpine ski school in Austria. The price list, booking form and opening hours are on our website, so we do not give prices or times here. Here is how renting from us works, step by step. ## 1. What you can rent - Downhill skis: sets with skis, boots and poles for adults and children, with children's sets in two sizes, MINI up to 110 cm and Junior up to 150 cm. If you have your own boots, you can rent just the skis. - Snowboards: a set with a board and boots, or just the board. We set the bindings for regular or goofy. - Cross-country skis: classic and skate. A set includes skis, boots and poles, and we wax the skis to suit the snow. - We also rent boots, poles, helmets, goggles and sledges separately. - For the whole winter, we offer season-long rental. What we do not offer: we do not run a ski school, and we do not rent ski touring gear. If you are not sure what to choose, we are happy to advise. ## 2. Book online You can book your gear online through our website, at the latest the day before. Online bookings come with a discount. You do not have to book, but without a booking we choose from whatever is available at the time. With a booking, we set the gear aside for you based on the details you give us. > **Tip from the shop:** Before you fill in the booking, find out the height, weight and shoe size of everyone you are renting for. For children, we only need their age, height and shoe size. Staying at one of our partner accommodations? What to bring - an ID card or passport, - the height, weight and shoe size of everyone renting, and for children their age, height and shoe size, - an idea of how everyone skis, as we choose ski length based on experience, - your own ski boots, if you are renting skis only, - the ski socks you will ski in, so that you can try the boots on in them. We do not take a deposit. You pay only when you pick up the gear, by card, QR payment or cash. ### Renting for the whole family? It is quickest if you have everyone’s details together before you book. For each person, note their height, weight, shoe size and how they ski, and for children their age, height and shoe size. Also note who has their own boots and only needs skis, and who would like a helmet or goggles. For children we have MINI and Junior sets, and when they have had enough of skiing, you can rent sledges too. Do you go to the mountains with your children several times a winter? Pick-up: ski length and binding adjustment Our rental is on Valteřická street in Vrchlabí, on the main road from Vrchlabí to Špindlerův Mlýn, and you can park right in front. When you pick up, we choose the ski length based on your height, weight and experience and adjust the bindings to your weight. For snowboards, we set the bindings for regular or goofy, and we wax cross-country skis to suit the snow. If you are not sure whether you ride regular or goofy, we will advise you when you pick up. > **Tip from the shop:** Tell us honestly how you ski, as we choose the ski length accordingly. And before you drive off, walk around in the rented boots for a few minutes to make sure they fit. ## 5. Return After skiing, you bring the gear back to us in Vrchlabí, for example on your way home from the mountains. We check, sharpen and wax every item after it comes back, so that it is ready for the next customer. Before you return the gear, check that you have everything, including poles, helmets and goggles. Season-long rental If you go to the mountains several times a winter, you can rent your gear for the whole season, which on our website runs from December to March. Season-long rental pays off mainly for children, who grow fast: the next winter, you simply choose again according to how much your child has grown. ## 7. Servicing your own skis Do you have your own skis? In our service, we sharpen the edges by hand to the angle you choose, clean the base, wax, polish and adjust the bindings. Mr Honců does the servicing himself. Skis brought in during the afternoon are usually ready the next morning. From us to Špindlerův Mlýn it is 16.1 km, about 18 minutes by car. The routes to Špindlerův Mlýn from Prague, Hradec Králové, Jičín and Brno pass about 610 metres from the rental, and the route from Trutnov goes right past us, so you can stop on your way to the mountains.
